About the Friends
Founded in 1997, the Friends of the Crook County Library is a 501(c)(3) non-profit membership corporation dedicated to enhancing the programs, services, and materials of the Crook County Library through public awareness, cultural programs, and private funding.

Membership
Anybody can be a Friend of the Library! You can become a FoL member by submitting a Membership Form along with the requested annual membership dues to the library front desk.

Your annual dues strengthen and expand library services and activities, sponsor the teen and adult Summer Reading Program, and supplement county funding, allowing for special services and programs that might not otherwise be possible.

If you'd like to provide additional support for the Friends, you can help by donating books using the drop box in the library lobby, volunteering, or making a donation. all dues and donations are tax deductible. Our Federal Tax Identification Number (TIN) is 931114660.

The Friends Board of Directors and members meet on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 2:00 PM at the library. The public is also welcome to attend! 

Donations
The Friends accept donations of gently used books. Books received as donations are resold at book sales and in the Friends Bookstore and Chapters, with funds returning back to support library programming.
Items that cannot be accepted include magazines, encyclopedias, outdated medical books, and outdated computer manuals.

Book Sales
The Friends hold regular book sale fundraisers at the library. Keep in touch with the Friends through their Facebook page for announcements regarding book sales.

  • Third Saturday Sales: The Friends of the Library hold a sale in the library lobby every 3rd Saturday of the month from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Shop for books, audiobooks, DVDs, music CDs, and more! All sales go to fund Crook County Library services and programs.
  • Blowout Sales: The Friends also hold larger sales in the library Broughton Room at least twice a year.

Friends Bookstore
Books and audiovisual materials are available for sale in the library whenever the library is open. Friends Bookstore items follow a flat pricing scheme: 

  • Hardback books: $3.00
  • Softcover books, children's books: $2.00
  • DVDs and CDs: $1.00

All proceeds go back to the library for programs and other support.

Chapters Book Store for Kids
Friends volunteers stock this unique children's bookstore, located in the library lobby, with wonderful gifts, toys, and gently used books. 

The current hours are: 

  • Monday: 11am-2pm
  • Tuesday: 10:30am-1:30pm
  • Wednesday: 10am-1pm
  • Thursdays: 11am-2pm
  • Fridays: 11am-2pm
  • Saturday: 11am-2pm
