The library's collection includes a diversity of materials for all ages, including fiction and nonfiction, audiobooks, music, movies, magazines, newspapers, reference books, and Spanish language materials. The library also provides small telescopes for checkout. Several online databases provide patrons access to digital content such as eBooks and magazines.
Public computers with Internet access and word processing programs are available. A library card grants access to a public computer and nonresident visitors may request a visitor pass with government-issued photo identification. Young people under age 17 need a parent or legal guardian to authorize their use of the public computers. Printing from computers is available for .10 cents for black and white prints or .50 cents for color prints.
USING THE LIBRARY
Residents of Crook, Deschutes, and Jefferson counties are eligible for a free library card with presentation of required identification. Nonresidents may purchase a library card for a 12-month or 3-month period. Those under 17 need a parent or legal guardian to be present and to sign their registration application, accepting responsibility for the use of the minor child's card. Patrons agree to notify the library of changes in their contact information or if their card is lost or stolen. A replacement card may be issued for $1.00.
Returns can be made inside the library at the Checkout Desk during open hours, or at the outside book drop located off 2nd Street when the library is closed.
Expert library staff stand ready to assist patrons with informational questions, with reading suggestions, and with training to help patrons learn how to use online resources and download eBooks or audiobooks. Patrons are encouraged to request assistance at the Checkout Desk or by calling 541-447-7978 during open hours.
Patrons may request an item not held in the library catalog by speaking with a staff person at the Checkout Desk, or by calling 541-447-7978 during open hours.
