THE COLLECTION
In addition to the collection of adult and children’s fiction and nonfiction, audiobooks, music, movies, and periodicals, the library also provides reference materials for in-library use. These include Oregon telephone directories, maps, and some legal books. Through the library's website patrons can also search for magazine articles and other online information.
COMPUTERS
Several Internet computers are available for public use. Click
here to see our Internet policy. Use your library card to log on to a public computer, or if you are a visitor ask at the checkout desk for a guest pass (please note: you must have photo identification in order to use a guest pass). Children under 18 need a parent or guardian to authorize them to access the Internet. Printing is available: b&w prints are $0.10 each, color prints are $0.50 each.
USING THE LIBRARY
Residents of Crook, Deschutes, and Jefferson counties are eligible for a free library card. Residents of other counties may purchase a card. Children younger than 18 need a parent's or legal guardian's signature on their application and signed permission to use the Internet at the library. The person who signs the card is responsible for all items borrowed on that card.
Please notify library staff immediately if your card is lost or stolen or if your address or phone number changes. There is a $1.00 charge for a replacement card.
Please show your card each time you check out materials.
LOAN PERIOD
Most library materials check out for 18 days and can be renewed. Hot Titles check out for 7 days but cannot be renewed.
RENEWALS
Library materials may be renewed twice if not on reserve. Hot Titles cannot be renewed.
You may renew online anytime through the library's website, or by phone at (541) 447-7978 during business hours.
RETURNS
The outside book drop located off 2nd Street and is available when the library is closed. Please return books to the checkout desk when we are open.
OVERDUE NOTICES
We send a total of three overdue reminders. The first notice is sent when items are 5-6 days overdue. The second notice is sent when items are 3 weeks overdue. When items are 4 weeks overdue, a third overdue notice is sent, a $5.00 restriction fee is added to your card and you will not be able to check out any more items. If you are the adult signer on a juvenile's card, your card and the child's will be restricted when the child has overdue items. When library materials are 8 weeks overdue and your account exceeds $50, it may be turned over to a Collection Agency and you will be charged a processing fee of $10.00.
