In addition to the collection of adult and children’s fiction and non-fiction, books on tape, CDs, videos, DVDs and periodicals, we also have reference materials for in-library use. These include telephone directories for Oregon, maps, a pamphlet file, used car guides, repair manuals and consumer magazines. There is also a magazine index and medical search on-line.

 

 

Several Internet terminals are available for public use. Click here to see our Internet policy. Use your library card to log on to the Internet, or ask at the circulation desk for a guest pass (please note: you must have photo identification in order to use a guest pass). Children under 16 need signed permission on their registration card. There are Word Processing computers available, as well as one typewriter. You may print out from our computers; b&w print-outs are $0.10 each, color print-outs are $0.50 each.

 

 

Residents of Crook, Deschutes, and Jefferson counties are eligible for a free library card. Residents of other counties may purchase a card. Children younger than 16 need a parent's or legal guardian's signature on their application and signed permission to use the Internet at the

library. The person who signs the card is responsible for all items borrowed on that card.

 

Please notify library staff immediately if your card is lost or stolen or if your address or phone number changes. There is a $2.50 charge for a replacement card. 

 

Please show your card each time you check out materials.

 

 

All library materials have an 18-day loan period, excluding holidays and Sundays. Most items can be renewed.

 

 

There is an outside book depository available when the library is CLOSED. Please return books to the library counter when we are open.

 

 

You may renew by phone at (541) 447-7978 during business hours or on-line.

 

 

There is a four-day grace period for late items. On the fifth day the minimum fine of $.50 is assessed and overdue notices are mailed. Fines are as follows :

 

Books, magazines, audios & videos     $.10 per day                                          

Interlibrary Loans (1 day grace)      $.25 per day

Failure to pick-up interlibrary loan   $1.50 per item

Replacement Library Cards             $2.50                                                 

Restriction Fee                                $5.00

Collection Processing Fee              $10.00

 

 

If an item is checked out, we can reserve it for you. When it comes in we will call you on the phone or send an e-mail. There is no charge for this service. Items will be held for three days.

 

 

We will try to borrow books we do not own from other libraries. Please ask for assistance at the Front Counter. There is a charge for failure to pick up interlibrary loans.

We have a copier for public use. It makes various sizes and can enlarge. We’ll be glad to show you how to use it.

 

Photocopies are $.10 each for b&w, $.50 each for color..

 

 

Recycle your used paperbacks.  Please make your own exchanges and replace the same number of books you select.

 

 

There are two meeting rooms available for use by the community. The Broughton Room is a large multi-purpose room with a projection screen and small kitchen area which holds 120 people; the Juniper Room is a small conference room with a seating capacity of 15.

The Board of Trustees meets on the second Thursday of the month at 6:30 pm in the Juniper Room at the Library.

 

The Friends of the Crook County Library meet on the third Thursday of the month at 6:30 pm in the Juniper Room. We appreciate all the Friends we can get. For more information pick up a Friends brochure at the Library or visit Chapters their gift shop located in the lobby.
